Denton Waterworks Park

If you are looking to splash into a great time, check out Denton Water Works Park. With a number of big slides, a kiddie play pool, and a wave pool, this park has got it all. If any of the little ones have summer birthdays, Denton Waterworks Park is a great venue to celebrate at.

You can also now experience a dine-in movie in the park as well. They are doing 2 dive-in movie nights scheduled for this summer! At 7 p.m. gates will open and you can enjoy the wave pool while the kids enjoy the splash area. Then around 9 p.m., or sundown, the movie will begin.

You can sit in the wave pool while the moving is playing and order tasty treats from the Tidal Wave Cafe. Once the movie has begun, the kiddie area will close.

Here is the next movie date:

  • Coco - Friday, Jul 8, 2022

Twilight Tunes

Denton Main Street Associations’ award-winning concert series, located in downtown Denton, is back for its 29th installment! If you love local music and are interested in the local musical talent Denton has to offer, then this event is for you.

Twilight Tunes provides free concerts every Thursday night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. There’s still 3 more concerts you can catch June 16th, June 23rd and June 30th.

For a full lineup for this year’s Twilight Tunes, check out their Facebook.

Take the A-Train!

We know that Denton is well known for its excellent jazz music (and it's musicians who perform songs such as Duke Ellington’s “Take the A-Train”). Interestingly enough, Denton has its very own A-train!

One of the first perks of getting on the A-train this summer is, of course, the air conditioner! The A-train commuter rail connects Denton and Dallas counties via Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART).

This means while enjoying the cooler temperature you can head to downtown Carrollton, the local museum, and more!

Plan your ride— visit the DCTA schedule.

Explorium Denton Children’s Museum

At the Explorium Denton Children’s Museum, their mission is “Engage, Explore, Educate.”

This museum allows your children to explore their curiosities in a safe and supportive environment. They focus on the importance of a family unit learning things together as a way to grow closer together.

They provide experiences for you and your children to learn about:

  • Science

  • Technology

  • Engineering

  • Arts

  • Math

Good Old-Fashioned Summer Fun

With all of the amazing events Denton has to offer, don’t forget about good old-fashioned fun at home. Get to know your community better by having gatherings at your home. Get the grill out, cook some food, and mingle.

Make sure you get the sprinklers going so the kids can have a blast. Some of the best things in life are as simple as sprinkler-fun in the sun! Get the kids off of the smartphones and outside playing with one another.

If you want to take it up a notch, you could also make homemade popsicles as a tasty treat for you and the kids. The sky’s the limit when it comes to summer in Denton!

Do you have a go to summer activity or a favorite spot to cool off? We want to hear about it! Toss it in the comments or tag us on social!
