Jingle Your Way to a Stress-Free Christmas with These Holiday Life Hacks!

Is the festive season already filling you with dread? Fear not, fellow Dentonite! Christmas doesn't need to be a time of stress and strain. With a bit of preparation and some savvy life hacks for Christmas, you can glide through the holiday season with the grace of a figure skater on a frozen lake!

We all love the idea of a picture-perfect Christmas, but the reality can often feel more like a mad scramble to get everything done. But it doesn’t have to be! These life hacks for the holidays are designed to help you streamline your festive preparations so that you can actually enjoy the season.

From shopping to meal planning, decorating to peacekeeping, and even the dreaded post-Christmas clean-up, Chrissy the #DentonRealtor has got you covered.

Let’s dive in!

#1 – Buy Gifts at the Right Time

Let's start with one of the most daunting tasks of the holiday season–Christmas shopping. With endless lists of gifts to buy and crowded shops to navigate, it's easy to see why so many of us leave it until the last minute.

While it might seem like buying early is the smartest way to shop, that’s not always the case. In fact, many retailers are likely going to offer better deals the closer we get to Christmas. That’s because many shoppers aren’t taking advantage of Black Friday deals like they used to.

The downside of this is obvious–lower inventory. You might get a better deal, but that only matters if the thing you want is there in the first place!

That’s why timing is so important. If the gifts you’re trying to buy are hard to find, it’s a better idea to grab them while they’re still around, even if that means not getting the best deal.

While retailers are going to push Black Friday deals, many of them will offer those same deals well into the holiday season. Don’t let FOMO scare you into buying early–there will always be something on sale!

#2 – Personalize Your Buying Schedule

Everyone’s gift-buying situation is going to be different. Maybe you get a Christmas bonus every year that you need to buy your gifts. Maybe you don’t mind running up the credit card early and paying it off in a month. Maybe you only have a handful of gifts to buy–maybe you have a ton.

Everyone’s schedule is different too! Not everyone is going to have a ton of free time to shop, while others are only realistically going to be able to shop online.

What’s important is coming up with a shopping plan that’s unique to you. Some people will want to shop as early as possible so they can spend time browsing because they’re not sure what to get.

Others will want to wait until the last minute for the best deal. Still others will want to do it all online a month out and be done with it.

As long as you have a plan that you put together now, you’re in better shape than many people!

#3 – Plan That Christmas Meal (And Some Others Too!) in Advance

Cooking a special Christmas meal can be a daunting task, but what many people don’t think about is all the meals that happen before and after Christmas! Sure, you want to get that Christmas-day menu put together in advance, but also consider doing some meal prep for the whole week.

The bigger your household, the more important this will be. Most people don’t want to go shopping the day after Christmas, and because Christmas is on a Monday this year, many people won’t be able to–they’ll have to work the next day.

If you’ve got a bunch of kids running around and a few family members staying the night, having a fridge stocked with meals they can heat up and serve themselves will save you a headache and a half.

Take a poll, figure out what everyone wants for the weekend leading up to Christmas and the day after, and then make a detailed shopping list. This will not only save you time at the grocery store, but it will also help you avoid buying unnecessary items.

Think about things that you can freeze, like soups and stews, or come up with something that can sit in the fridge for a few days. Do all the shopping on Friday and the meal prep on Saturday so that, on Monday, you can focus on the big meal.

Embrace a Stress-Free Christmas This Year

The holidays can be a major headache if you stumble into them blindly, but if you use these hacks and make a plan, you can take the stress out of a time that’s supposed to be blessed!
