Getting Your Home Fall Ready

Now is the time to get your house prepped for winter and give your home a little face spruce. As your #dentonrealtor I wanted to put together a few quick tips to help your home get fall ready! Check out the “Getting Fall Ready Video” or the top 8 list below.

1—Winterize Yard Equipment

Get your lawn mower, weed eaters and any other lawn equipment ready for the winter months. Empty any gasoline and give them a good clean before you give them a rest in the coming months.

2— Check Your Heater

Bring in the experts and make sure your heater is ready for the chilly nights ahead.

3— Grab Faucet Covers

There’s nothing worse than realizing you lost your faucet covers from last season. My guess is you won’t even notice until you actually need them so do a quick check to make sure your outdoor pipes will be protected.

4— Clean Out Your Gutters

I suggest taking a moment to clean out your gutters as we enter into the prime of fall and all the leaves are getting ready to make their debut on the ground and well in your gutters. Give your gutters a fresh start and clean them out on the front end. Now you will likely still need to give them another clean after the leaves have settled but this will get you a good head start.

5— Check Your Safety Equipment

Do a quick check on your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide detectors, fire extinguishers, any other safety equipment around the house and stock up on batteries. Check that the detectors have fresh batteries and are working properly. Make sure your extinguishers are not expired and that you have them easily accessible.

6— Declutter Your Main Rooms

We always think of spring cleaning but we can’t forget about a little fall freshener! Pick out your top 2-3 rooms and go through with a deep clean. Fill a box for donations, rearrange to create a more cozy layout and scrub those baseboards. Take a minute to give the areas in your home where you spend the most time a little love. This would also be a great time to have your carpets cleaned so you can end the busy summer/back to school seasons with an even newer fresh start.

7— Get Ready for a Cozy Fire

Theres’s nothing better than a warm fire on a cool crisp night so you don’t want to miss out. Do a quick preparation by cleaning out your fireplace, the chimney and go ahead and purchase that firewood so you’re ready. If you have a gas fireplace check to make sure everything is working properly before the chilly nights hit.

8 Create The Fall Vibes

Now that you have spent time getting your home fall ready don’t forget about the fall vibe. How do we create the fall vibes over at The Mallouf house? Grab your favorite fall candle, set out the warm cozy blankets, pick out your favorite mugs and all the ingredients for your warm beverage of choice. You’re ready!
