Getting the Best Out of Denton — Neighborhoods to Check Out

If you’re in the market for a new home in DFW, look no further than Denton! When it comes to cities that have that “just right” feeling, Denton has it in spades — and Chrissy your #DentonRealtor is here to give you the low down on the best spots in Denton to hang your hat.

But first, let’s talk about Little D and what it’s all about.

A Little Bit About the Little D

Sometimes called Little Austin (much smaller population, same fun vibe!), Denton is a fantastically diverse city that’s great for the whole family.

There are plenty of kids (children under 18 make up about 25% of the population), and with THREE universities in town, there are plenty of twenty-somethings running around to make the place a blast.

But that doesn’t mean it’s all young’uns all the time — many working professionals have made Denton their home. Denton is something of a mini tech hub, and it’s filled with professors of course, but it’s probably best known for its thriving music scene. No matter where you go in Denton, you can count on great live music and fun people.

Convinced yet? I know you are! If you’ve got your sights on Denton, here are the neighborhoods to check out.

Don’t Worry About the Name — Idiot’s Hill Is a Smart Purchase

One of the best places to live in Denton is hilariously named Idiot’s Hill. The origin of the name isn’t known, but this beautiful neighborhood has some of the best views in Denton thanks to all the gorgeous trees and beautiful rolling hills.

It’s just a hop, skip, and a jump from Texas Woman’s University, which has a charming campus that’s perfect for morning jogs and afternoon strolls, and there are plenty of parks nearby for the kids and doggos alike.

Take a Trip Down Cooper Creek

If you don’t mind being a bit outside of town, Cooper Creek might be right up your alley. Located just a bit northeast of town, Cooper Creek is a suburban neighborhood filled with families in 3-to-5 bedroom homes with few rentals.

The homes were mostly built between 1970 and 2000, so it’s got some flavor to it, but if you’re looking for some peace and quiet outside the hustle and bustle of the city, this is the place to go. With a good mix of young families and retired seniors, this is a great spot to settle down in.

On top of that, you’re right near the Clear Creek Natural Heritage Center and Greenbelt Park, both of which have plenty of trails for day hikes. If you want to get all you can out of Denton without having to live in town, take a trip down Cooper Creek!

Get Your Kicks at Rayzor Ranch

If you’re looking for something a bit more upscale, The Residences at Rayzor Ranch are definitely worth checking out. This luxury-focused community has tons of amenities that are perfect for families, retirees, and working professionals alike.

You can pick between townhomes and single-family homes that are all brand-spankin’-new, with plenty of floorplans to choose from. This pet-friendly, kid-friendly community has everything you need right outside your doorstep.

On top of that, you’re conveniently placed right next to Rayzor Ranch itself, filled with all the shopping and restaurants your heart could desire. You’re also very close to North Lakes Park, which has a rec center, two fishing ponds, a sports complex, a soccer complex, and even a disc golf course.

Add in a great dog park, and what’s not to love?

If any of these neighborhoods tickle your fancy, I’d love to chat with you about them — contact Chrissy your #DentonRealtor today!
